RVF750-RC45 Brake Tuning

As standard the RC45 is equiped with well proven brakes. 310mm diameter front disks combined with Nissin’s 4 pot calipers also seen on the CBR900RR Fireblade, do a good job of pulling the RC45 up.

UPGRADES

The two most favourite upgrades in this department must be the brake pads and brake lines. The stock pads take some beating though, as they are designed to work with the disc material and can be easily sourced though any Honda dealership. For track day lovers though, a number of other pads are available from companies such as EBC, Brembo, and Ferodo.

Brake lines are often changed not only because of age but also for looks. A number of companies make such lines, some of the best being made by HEL Performance.

Standard OEM rubber lines should be replaced around every four years. HEL’s lines however come with a lifetime warranty. Once fitted, unless damaged in an accident or by poor treatment, there should be no need to ever have to replace them.

Another thing very often over looked is brake fluid. This should be changed at least every other year though quite often it needs replacing before this. For track day use the fluid should be changed every meeting.
