I’ve a technical question relating to the Tuning Section on this forum regarding derestriction :-
Apart from the mechanical differences between the Japanese and French models the main electrical method to derestrict is the use of a ED market PGM-FI unit. However, there are to my knowledge three versions of the CDI units, a Japanese ‘J’ marked, a Swiss ‘SW’ marked and finally a European ‘E’ marked igniter boxes. There’s no mention in the Tuning section regarding the use of say a ‘ED’ PGM-FI unit while using a ‘J’ marked CDI.
Does anyone know why the CDIs are different and their effect if used with a 'ED' PGM-FI unit?
Regards,
Pask.
