rc45 ride height

Hi all you clever people out there.

I wanted to raise the fork tubes of my 45 through the yokes but find there are rings fitted into the tubes under the top yoke which prevent me from doing this .
The other option is to raise the rear ride height. I want to use the standard shock so the questions are,
Do I use the ride height adjuster{available from online store} with or without the HRC linkage?
Can I add a spacer between the frame and the mounting point of the shock ? If so any suggestions to the thickness of the spacer?
