Std RC45 Dyno Torque output ?

Post by Mohawk »

Hi Guys,

I'm new on here, sorry no 45 for me, out of my price range, but I have been modifying my VFR800 5th gen & have now done all the suspension, wheels brakes etc & I'm now looking to release a bit more power.

To that end, I need a bit of info. Having studied the differences between the 45 & 800 motor, there are very few. Namely crank order, makes no difference to power. Cams are 10 degree longer duration on the 45 & the injector bodies are smaller at 36mm on the 800.

Looking at the dyno charts for the RC45's on this site with minimal add ons, like just a silencer system, the output is approx 115+rwhp. My 800 is putting out 102rwhp, but runs out of breath after peak torque at 8750rpm. The 800 is making more power than the 45 runs up to 9500rpm where they become equal.

So has anyone got a dyno chart of a standard engine RC45 with or without slip on can showing Torque curve ? At what RPM is max torque generated ?
I'm toying with having a spare set of 800 cams reworked to 45 spec or possibly a little more duration than that, plus reworking the inlet tracts to remove as much obstruction as possible. If I can move the peak torque up to 9500rpm, I should be able to exceed 110rwhp I believe.

I'm NOT trying to create a 45 replica, just trying to free up some ponies I know are lurking in there :) This is where I got to last year. Carbon rear is going in now, plus brake rework etc. Engine is next !

Never mind, after some more random searching I found this http://www.speedzilla.com/forums/street ... est-2.html from Larry, which shows his lightly modded 45 @ 112rwhp, but most importantly, the torque peaks at 9500-10K/rpm.

So I'll be sorting out some reworked cams to RC45 spec, but with a bit more intake duration to compensate for the CC increase & reduced Throttle bore size ! The bioblade made 124rwhp on standard fuel, so I'll aim for over 110.
I checked with the journalist that commissioned it & he confirmed that they used the standard throttle bodies & airbox to comply with Belgium track noise regs.

Watch this space :)
