Folks, rember when Ron Haslam raced a VFR which had the crank cut n shut by Ron Grant?
Any idea how he did it? I know it's said it was cut and welded, but how exactly did he do it?
I'm thinking that he used 2 cranks, cut and shaved a central web down to make a long parallel centre journal on one crank, then bored an adjacent interference fit hole on the other cut crank half. Press both halves together in the phasing of an RC30 crank, a couple of spots of weld to keep it firm and hey presto, or am I well of track?
Perhaps something similar with the cams too?
