legit frame number?

Post by bootross »

Hi all,

first time poster as I am now looking to get my teenager dream bike, which is not easy in Australia.

Does anyone have any comments on this frame number - Id like opinions on whether it is legit or not for anyone that has a "9" in their frame number. To me this looks a little strange, the bike has no history available.

hopefully the pic works.

Hiya... I'd be happy to help but your photo didn't work... try again...

Honda's #9 stamped into the frame will not look like the #9 on the VIN
sticker or plate... it looks like this... check the engine numbers located
bottom aft right to see if you have a #9 to compare...

Frame number

If your bike is a genuine Australian delivered RC45 the frame number on the headstock will look like it has been ground off and re stamped, this is normal for Australian bikes, if you are worried about it, write to Honda Australia and they will confirm this. Also on a side not back in the day Australia got a special delivery of CBR250RR they too did not have enough numbers in the VIN so were also restamped.

That is legit VIN but this is not an Australian delivered bike(1 of 12) as they are re stamped with 17 digit vin.

I'm not worried about it but I would like to follow up... can you post a pic of a
headstock in question and a Honda Australia link for questioning???
