std exhausts

Post by RVFRC45 gary »

Hi,
I'm in the process of re commissioning the 45. Due to knee reconstuction op, I'm still not sure I will be able to bend my knee to ride it but rest assured I will give it a good go.
Beside servicing the bike to get it ready for the MOT.
I've noticed that the 4 exhaust clamps want re painting. (two under rear shock and two by side of the o/s rear tyre.
I guess these clamps are coloured flat black but I've noticed since removing the clamps that it looks like the pipe ends have been painted a grey/silver. Is this correct.
The rest of the pipes are cleaning up nicely with Solvol and a scotch pad.
These look like they are stainless rather than chrome.
the model is a 97 RS.
I've noticed the question how many 45 were made. My RS is mid 150s on the chassis number.
Any feed back most welcome

Hiya Gary... I hope you keep your knees in the breeze... I just looked at my
stock exhaust stored up in the attic and the clamps are flat black and the
pipe ends are silver... RC45 stock exhaust is indeed stainless steel and will
buff to a luster with a Scotch Bright Pad and some sweat equity...

Hi Larry,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes I thought I was going mad as I did not get any feedback about the silver ends to the pipes.
I thought some owner before me had done it.
Anyway I have polished up the pipes and redone clamps and it looks
great.
As for the knees perhaps your lovely weather would help lol
cheers gary
PS I'm posting another problem I now have.
