I'm new to this forum but have an interesting bit of news for anyone interested in seeing/hearing a race RC45 At full chat again!
I belong to Rev it Red racing run by Big Col Morris, and we will be running a Full Factory Engined, Twin Injector Honda Britain bike in the Golden Era Championship with non other than Ex British Champion And TT winner Ian Simpson on board!
We are missing the first meeting at Brands due to a clash of race dates , so are making our debut at Donnington 24/25th March and would be great to have some support!
If all goes to plan we may also be running Mike Edwards on a second bike too.,
Just returned from Donnington after having the best result we could have hoped for -2 wins and a close second!
After a difficult practice where Simmo only managed a handfull of laps before the rear race caliper locked up on to the disc and nearly had him off tipping in to Redgate. When the bike got back in the pits, the rear was still red hot and promptly burst in to flames- not a good start!
Luckily, I had a spare bike in the Van to remove my entire system and fit on the race bike. The original Nissen is Toast!
Ian was straight in to the first race with little practice but soon made his way to the front and in the lead but now suffered front brake fade despite new pads/ fluid and was just beaten to the line by an Aprillia RSVR .
We fitted a new front mastercylinder and fluid for the second race which he promptly won by the whole length of the start /finish straight.
The bike sounded awesome at full chat on its own and shows how fast it still is compared to modern machinery and in the right hands.
The last race, Ian started from 3rd on the grid but was 1st in to Redgate and again opened a huge gap on his rivals. He did however, experience a fuelling problem coming in to the last corner and had to coast over the line with a dead engine.
We were really lucky it happened then and not a lap earlier, but a wins a win!
Simmo said that the bikes a missile, much quicker than he remembers and better than he will ever be. He's very humble about his abilities and don't agree with his last statement - he's pure class on a 45!
The Sunday races were televised and will be on Motors TV soon and I have posted some photos on Photobucket Mick-45.
Can't wait till our next outing at Oulton in 2 months time!
Hey,
Mick is away at the moment hosting a clown convention in Les Mans. As a member of the Circus that looks after these clowns I am sorry to say but we will not be attending this weekend.
The reason being mechanical issues, yes hard to believe I know. Unfortunatly we did not find any of the doors or the Bonnet that fell off the big clowns van at Snetterton?
Please keep looking out for the posters on lamposts for our next performance!

I love Honda bikes. They are impressive because they ahve racing performance. I always think about having one. I think this situation is not far from me.
Ah, the razing of skin, shredding of muscle, and the splintering of bone, I know it all so (repeatedly) well. But the good news Mick, if “good” be a word to use in connection with an accident, is that at least you’re on the mend. Regardless, my best wishes for a speedy, full and proper, recovery.
Hi Mick, took a bit of time to reply as I've been away at the TT. We had a great 8 days over there and marshalled at Quarry Bends, Black Dub and Greeba Castle but luckily we had no incidents in our sectors. Now, we always have a doctor with us and I questioned one who said that to plate it just makes it weaker afterwards because of all the screw holes. It'll only be plated, she said(!), if it's 'tenting', as in about to pierce the skin, or your name's Lorenzo...but they get bone grafts later to fill the holes.
