Speedometer

Post by g0rd0n_w »

I have recently fitted an mph speedo to my bike to replace the kph one it was originally fitted with. Now the weather has nearly improved I finally tried it out today. The speedo appears to be reading slow, I have not confirmed yet with GPS but I am convinced it is incorrect, reading 30mph when you are travelling at between 35 and 40, error is more at higher speed. Error in distance as well.

Does anyone know if the sender unit varies from continental to uk bikes? Speedo was new but eBay purchase, original packaging etc.

Thanks in advance

Speedo sensor

Post by g0rd0n_w »

Just received a mph sensor via Stephen.

As Larry stated MPH sensor is 5 pulse per revolution. The sensor has the number 5 on it at has the number 93491.

The KMH sensor I replaced has the number 4 on it and also the number 94104.

Only Honda would bother with a different sensor for KMH and mph....

Manual says it communicates with PGA FI system but I doubt if a change is going to affect running, I hope.
