RC45 rear wheel on an RC30

Post by Neilrc30 »

Hey everyone,

New member, my first post.

Can I put the RC45 wheel on? The bike currently has a stock wheel with a 180 tyre fitted and it rubs the chain. So I was thinking the 45 wheel may not work.

Thanks for any advice.

Rc45 wheel

An RC45 wheel does fit but you will find that choice of tyre is critical, ideally a 190 width tyre is required but this will require a wheel spacer to allow clearance between tyre and swinging arm. A 180/55 tyre will fit to a 6" rim but some 180 tyres are wider than others so whether or not a spacer is required will depend on tyre.
You may also find chain guard rubbing tyre and even the wheel since wheel is smaller diameter.
The 17" wheel is also lower so a ride height adjuster will be required to maintain existing geometry but ideally the ride height should be increased anyway.

I have a 45 wheel on my RC30 and have a narrow <2.5mm spacer but use a 180 tyre.
