There are 3 sectors to deciphering a Honda 17 character VIN namely WMI VDS and VIS

Take JH2RC4526RM000001 (I like to say Balls 1 for short)

JH2 WMI World Manufacture Identifier (Motorcycle manufacture in Japan)

RC45 VDS Vehicle Description Section

Everything past this point is VIS Vehicle Indicators Section

26 Check digit (this code is used to fill the VIN and has no bearing
on the VDS or VIS)

R Model year (1994) S model year (1995)

M Plant of origin (Hamamatsu Factory Japan)

000001 Sequential Production Number
