Yoshi system + power commander = 121hp and 56.5 ft.lbs

Post by hollo »

Hello , I've not had my RC45 too long and I've never heard of anyone having a power commander fitted. So here are my findings......
When I went to the bike/dyno shop to get the idle balanced when I first got the bike in August , the owner thought that it would not be too hard to fit a power commander .
As ever I seem to spend all my money on a new bike , and then even more once I've got it . So after seeing a full Yoshi twin stack system on E-bay , I thought I've get it and try it with a power commander.
I asked the dyno shop to dyno it in stages , so,
1 / With an end can and std system - 113.7hp and running lean at the bottom end , but getting better with more revs.
2 /With a full Yoshi twin stack system , 114.1hp, but running very lean throughout the rev range, so yes it flows better than the std system , but the bike cannot get enough fuel to burn to make any more power
3 / Also with a Power commander III fitted and tweeked , now it can be altered to burn more fuel , it gave 121.2hp and 56.5ft.lbs of torque . From the dyno graph , it just gives a clear 6 or 7hp more power all the way from 6000 rpm and above , so you don't loose any of the wonderful V4 seemless torque feel of the bike.

I'm now a very happy bunny , but I've only ridden it once since I've got it back , as the weather has turned too cold , and as soon as any salt it put on the roads I always then call it quits for the year . From my brief ride , all I can say is WOW. I don't think this has been done before , as the power commander ahs been hard wired in, so not plugged in , so it's a semi permanent mod , but obviously could be reversed but not a easy a unplugging it . Personally I'm more than happy to do this , and I'm very happy with the results.
Mike .
