New member here from Seattle USA. I’m in the midst of resurrecting my 1988 French market RC30 # 2001951. Not my first ‘30 and hopefully I won’t be stupid enough to sell this one as I’ve been in the past.

This ex-racer on auction really lights my candle:

On this example I notice the extra gizmo on the swingarm has been deleted. I’ve always wondered what that thing did.

Is it as simple as just unbolting it? What are the pros/cons of such a modification?

Thanks all!

Kie R.

Stock RC30 brake arm is a full floater taken from the dirt bikes of the
time and designed to transfer wheel hopping brake torque to the frame
and not through the suspension... The pros of illuminating is less
unsprung weight... I don't know of any cons... In fact I modified my RC45
a step further and machined my own hanger that illuminate the arm
and employ a simple bolt...

You have to feel it to believe it but my finished Ceramic Matrix Composite disc Mod only weights 7oz...

Larry that is great news thank you. I love taking stuff off that isn’t needed. My bike is no show piece and I’m gonna ride the mismatched HRC/Marvic wheels right off of it lol.

Good gawd man those pics are pure porn!

You're welcome... my CMC rear mod was an effort to match the CMC front... I don't think our bikes will ever be done...
