Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum and am a bit of an invader really! I have a 1993 Ducati 888SP5 which couldn't be further aware from the refinement that is an RC45!

However, there is a method in my madness in joining the forum and may benefit someone. In my dismal search to get the period correct Corsa Brembo two-piece calipers for my bike, I stumbled across a pair Brembo race Monoblocs.

Now, these are special. Apart from Ti Pistons and being Monblocs that is! These calipers have two extra little brackets at the bottom of the caliper, which I have never see on any WSBK or MotoGP bike EXCEPT the 1996/1997 Factory Hondas of Kocinski, Slight and Fogarty.

So my question is, does anybody know anything about them and what the brackets are for?

If someone needs them, they may be for sale!

I have no idea how to post pictures!! Any help welcome!!

Hi,

I think what you might have there is a set of HRC commissioned Brembo calipers for the RC45. The two small mounting lugs at the bottom are used to mount a plate which is a ‘disc guide’ used to aid rapid front wheel changes in endurance racing. There’s a listing for one on Yahoo Japan :-

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k302678828

These calipers are really quite trick, rare and expensive, suitable for use with kit folks with a 40mm bolt pitch and narrow track discs. The market is smaller for those lucky to have kit bikes but sought after. They would be worth more with the endurance plates, which are no longer available from HRC.

Hope this helps.

PS Take a kook at 'Tuning' section under 'RVF750 RC45' :-

A few more photos of the NL5 ED calipers

Thank You very Much. The ones you picture are not Monobloc though? The setup would be similar I presume?

Any idea What to search/look for to get pictures of the endurance parts?

Where would I best be posting for sales/Value?

Thanks Again.

Seems a shame to put them on my Bike, but they will go on for now.

I will continue my search for the calipers I actually want!!

cheers,
Jasper

Yes, sorry my mistake, the Yahoo listing I gave is for a 'kit' '95 caliper but the lugs on yours I'm pretty sure are for the disc guides if the calipers were to be used in an endurance race.

I think your calipers may very well be a later version or since they are monoblocks, possibly a 'works' set of brembo calipers. Please don't quote me on that, I'm no expert but there are plenty that contribute to this forum who are.

As for photos, I just use Google or you could try YouTube for video's posted at the Honda museum at Hamamastu, there may be a close up on the calipers, worth a go. As for posting for sale, you could place an add in the classified section on this forum, I have no idea regarding price.

Thank you. I have googled them to death, to no avail. I shall wait and see if any other people have more info. Thank you for your help.

If you watch the following YouTube video :-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOjzJhtNOjg

The first RC45 is a '97 endurance racer and there's a close up of the calipers which look like yours, while the second is a '95 endurance racer (red with blue flames paint scheme) has what looks like the caliper listed on Yahoo Japan.
